As a security best practice, it's recommended that you generate a strong Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key or WPA-PSK is a system of encryption used to authenticate users on wireless local area networks. It's typically utilized by telecom companies for end user access in home local area networks. WPA-PSK may also be called WPA2-PSK or WPA Personal. Techopedia explains Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) The Pre-Shared Key (sometimes called shared secret) is basically a form of password for your VPN gateway which is set up on your device. The Pre-Shared Key is specific to your gateway and can be found in your device's configuration guide. VPN Tracker provides setup guides for all major gateway manufacturers. Pre-shared key In cryptography, a pre-shared key or PSK is a shared secret which was previously shared between the two parties using some secure channel before it needs to be used. To build a key from shared secret, the key derivation function should be used. Such systems almost always use symmetric key cryptographic algorithms. IPsec Pre-Shared Key Generator. PSK Generator provides a secure process to negotiate a 64-byte IPsec Pre-Shared Key (also known as a Shared Secret or PSK) through insecure means, such as email. Or you can use serial numbers, MAC addresses, or you could call each other and exchange two colours, favourite sports teams, etc. Note that whatever one party enters as "Key 1" the other party must enter as "Key 1", and whatever one party enters as "Key 2" the other party must also enter as "Key 2". Re: What is a good preshared key length All depends what you are trying to protect and where. If relatively minor info, across an already private network it will be fine. If the info is troop movements, and it is to be carried across the internet, it may be a little weak!
Pre-Shared Key Transport Protocol (PSK) The Pre-Shared Key (PSK) protocol is an end-to-end transport protocol, used by the sender and receiver of an ILP payment to decide on a condition and fulfillment for a payment. By default, the protocol also encrypts any additional data sent along with the payment, using AES-256-GCM.
If an additional layer of symmetric-key crypto is required (for, say, post-quantum resistance), WireGuard also supports an optional pre-shared key that is mixed into the public key cryptography. When pre-shared key mode is not in use, the pre-shared key value used below is assumed to be an all-zero string of 32-bytes. ref: https://www.wireguard
Now, Pre-Shared Key shows up as an option in drop down for client. Unfortunately, Pre-Shared is still not an option for Server. (I'm using Pre-shared keys for both the Authentication to the Server as well as Username/Client AUTH.) – Pretzel Feb 27 '15 at 17:21
